Pakistan

How do you feel? I mean.. after reading the title? Lot of adrenaline pumping? Why is it so?

When there is a talk about our neighbors, hatred is the first emotion which comes out of most of the people. Be it sports, films, politics or anything for that matter. Many among us want the worst to happen to Pakistan/Pakistanis. Remember all the hatred tweets, blogs and other comments when Time of India published the result of an opinion poll last week? Recently, I saw the film “Khuda ke liye” and felt that it is a beautiful movie. When I was talking about it to one of my friend, he told me – “Please don’t see any movies made by Pakistanis. By doing so, you are giving a helping hand to them, in one way or other.”

I agree that our nation is suffering much because of the activities originated from this country. Numerous wars after the partition and still ongoing terrorist attacks which are unofficially supported by Pakistan government agencies. There are all reasons to dislike a neighbor like this. Our children grow here with the belief that Pakistanis are our enemies. Same must be happening at the other side also. Thus, the batten of hatred is passed on to next generation.

How does this help anyone? Will this create a peaceful world? I have never seen a Pakistani in my life. I find it difficult to accept that every Pakistani is to be hated. If there is a cricket match between Australia and Pakistan, I would love to see Pakistan winning the match, because I feel emotionally closer to our neighbors and not to Australians.

Speaking of that makes me think something. Nowadays we hear that a lot of racial attacks are happening against Indians in Australia. Students are stabbed and killed there. Still nobody seems to dislike Australia. Indians love to immigrate to countries like Australia, England, US etc. Nobody seems to care that English had treated us like slaves for 200 years. We are more than happy to go and settle there. And US, the country which provide weapons to our “enemies” – can’t displease them. Our economy depends on them and many are hoping to settle there right?

I am not hoping to create an emotional grudge against all these counties. In fact, hatred is not a solution at all. But why there is a biased thinking only towards Pakistanis.

Let us try not to inject the venom of hatred in the veins of upcoming generation. Let us pray that Pakistan get a stable government so that their nuclear power does not fall in the hands of our real enemies. Our real enemy is not the common man at the other side of the border, who more or less resembles to us.

What do you think?

  1. Good post. I agree with you on the fact that the hatred is baseless. Here in the UK you dont get branded 'Indian' or 'Pakistani' but more or less, like 'Asian'. I do live in a house owned by a Pakistani and many of my work colleagues are also from this much maligned country and I don't see them as any different from the rest of us. It's just a case of a few bad apples spoiling it for the rest.

  5. I am agreeing with you vivek. Terrorism is the only thing that is creating the feeling of hatred in us towards Pakistanis. My team mate is a Pakistani, its the first time in my life am meeting a Pakistani and he is such a nice guy I could ever find. According to him all the problems are just between the two Govts. From him I could figure out that about 90 percent of people in Pakistan are peace loving 'aam aadmi', who are religious with strong cultural and educational background.

  6. You are absolutely right.
Everyone always thinks that only Pakistanis are terrorists. But it’s not like that. In our India itself, there are some people who support terrorism. So until these peoples are eradicated completely, how can we change the view of a common man?
Once we (me and my husband) happened to met one Pakistani. We were shifting our home, so we decided to sell our furniture. So from the newspaper we got one number of a dealer and we contacted him. So he came and finalized the deal. After that, he asked us whether we were Indians. We told yes. Then he introduced himself and told he is a Pakistani. And started saying about his family, his home etc. But in his words, I felt that he also wants to have a friendship wit India and Pakistan.
He told us that his some families are in India. He loves India. Wish to have visit to India. And he also told because of politics and other countries interference this much gap came between India and Pakistan. He believed that there is only one religion that is humanity.
I think all the Pakistanis are not same. There are some very good people also.
Even now also, my neighbour is a Pakistani family. They are nice.
Similarly how we are expecting a peaceful life in our country. They are also expecting the same from their country. They are also humans like also.

  7. Hey Vicky...
U r r8 more than 100%.I dont like to make hatred towards any man only bcoz he is a Pakistani. Most of the common man really like to b friend with our good neighbors ,but even here the dirty politicians playing their dirty game.Itz the Nehru/Jinha who r the real reason 4 the partition not the common ppl.So i dont want 2 c pakistanis as our enemies,I really like 2 live in a peaceful world. We can pray 4 that.
Thanks 4 the post dear friend.

  8. Hey Vivek.. first of all lemme congratulate to put tgthr such a compelling and thoughtful post about such a sensitive issue yet keeping it open for much more thinking by our generationand generations to come in a positive way.. Pakistan which means 'Pure nation' i beleive a very beautiful nation.. but yes a my friend AG said one bad apple ruins the whole bunch , i feel the same .. In a society if we r at fight with all the neighbours we have we dnt have a sound social life then..i feel same goes for us as a nation after all we wr not two different nations from the beginning its just some confusion tat led to this.. so yes as you said instead of hating our neighbours lets start loving them for a change and who knows may be tats the only way we can be more of relatives than just neighbours..
Thanks a lot for such a beautiful post dear frind.. Keep up ur good job...
